Best Kanto Gigantamax Tier List for Pokémon GO (2026 Update)

The four Kanto Gigantamax — Gengar, Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise — periodically rotate back into Max Battle as a set. They share a common Kanto-era pedigree but have very different roles in 2026’s Max Battle meta. This guide ranks the four by current practical impact, with the type-coverage and Max Move details behind each placement.

How This Ranking Was Calculated

  • Per-type Max Move damage: Each Gigantamax is evaluated by its G-Max move’s tier rank within its primary type.
  • Type coverage demand: Ghost and Fire coverage are needed more often than Water in current boss windows. Demand-weighted utility scores higher.
  • Tank profile: Bulk and resistances factor in for picks that double as tanks (Venusaur, Blastoise specifically).
  • Acquisition cost: All four come from limited Max Battle windows, so candy access is comparable. The ranking is about practical use value, not build effort.

  • Best for: Psychic / Ghost-type bosses
2

4

Gigantamax Blastoise

Gigantamax Blastoise

Water Water — G-Max Cannonade is usable but outclassed by Gigantamax Inteleon and Primal Kyogre at the top of the Water tier. Solid bulk; useful as a budget Water tank when neither alternative is built.

  • Best for: Budget Water role / Fire / Ground / Rock bosses
