This article walks through the schedule and the featured Pokémon, sorted into three priority tiers: Highest (priority 3), Mid (priority 2), and Low (priority 1). It also covers tank usage in Max Battles and where best to spend your Rare Candy. The analysis is sourced from the data on the site below.
We also publish a tool that shows which Pokémon to spend your Rare Candy on at a glance.
Individual Pokémon pages are also available, so feel free to look up the species you are interested in.
All times are shown in JST (Japan Standard Time, UTC+9). Niantic syncs global event windows to JST, so the JST values are authoritative. If you play outside Japan, you can also check your in-game Today View for the local equivalent.

For trainers who are not attending GO Fest Tokyo, the rhythm of the week looks like this: secure Inkay in Monday's Max Monday, finish Tapu Fini + Mega Medicham + Shadow Cresselia before Tuesday 20:00 as a last call, then move into farming and powering up Shadow Dialga from Tuesday and Reshiram from Wednesday. On top of that, Spark's research event is a chance to grab Dratini and Lileep and raise them into Dragonite and Cradily.
From here, we look at each event and Pokémon in order.
GO Fest 2026 Tokyo Final Day (Until 6/1 Mon)
GO Fest 2026 Tokyo, running since 5/29, reaches its final day on Monday 6/1. The headline is that
Mega Mewtwo X and
Mega Mewtwo Y made their worldwide debut here at GO Fest Tokyo.
Trainers who bought a Super Mega Raid ticket had the chance to catch Mega Mewtwo X or Y. GO Fest Tokyo ends on June 1, but the Mega Mewtwo caught here is a standout Pokémon you will be using for a long time, so be sure to raise it.
GO Fest 2026 Global (open to all trainers) is also scheduled for July 11–12, so if you are not attending Tokyo, look forward to that window instead.
Last Call: Tapu Fini / Mega Medicham / Shadow Cresselia (Until 6/2 Tue 20:00 JST)
Three raids close at 20:00 JST on Tuesday 6/2:
Tapu Fini (5★ Legendary Raid),
Mega Medicham (Mega Raid), and
Shadow Cresselia (Shadow Legendary Raid).
Rather than gym or raid attackers, all three are mainly for Battle League use or as Candy-boost catches. They are not top-tier combat pieces, but if you do not have them yet and still need the Pokédex entry, do not let this window slip by. Shadow Cresselia in particular is rated as a top-tier Hyper League wall, and 6/2 is your last chance.
Max Monday: Malamar (6/1 Mon)
Monday 6/1 from 6:00 to 21:00 JST hosts
Inkay in Max Monday. There is no focused spawn window — it is an all-day regular spawn, so make sure to secure one during the window.
Its evolution,
Malamar, is a Dark / Psychic dual-type. Its stats are average, but it performs far better in the Battle League than in gyms or raids.
Its Max Battle evaluation is worth a look too. Because Malamar takes Psychic-type moves with a triple resistance, even with only average bulk it becomes a very handy tank when you specifically need to absorb certain moves. It is not a tank for multiplayer, but as a piece for solo clears it is excellent.
For reference, here is how the currently usable Max Battle Pokémon compare when taking Psychic-type moves: Malamar comes out with the highest Psychic-type durability of any Max Battle Pokémon available right now. If you want to check durability against other types as well, see the tool below.
Summer Trilogy Research: Blanche / Spark / Candela
To tie in with GO Fest 2026, a "research" event themed around each of the three team leaders runs in sequence. Last week was Blanche (Team Mystic); this week is Spark's research (6/2–6/8), where
Dratini and
Lileep appear; next week is Candela's research (6/9–6/15).
Spark's research gathers Electric types and evolution materials broadly from wild spawns, 7 km Eggs, and field research. The two standouts are Dratini and Lileep, both of which become strong assets once evolved. Next, we take a closer look at their evolutions, Dragonite and Cradily.
Dragonite (Dratini Evolution)
Dragonite is one of the strongest Dragon-type Pokémon. Unlike Salamence, it can learn Outrage from a standard Charged TM, with Draco Meteor positioned as its special move. In raids the two are not far apart in practice, so either is fine — go with whichever you prefer.
Mega Dragonite can be raised all the way to the Super Max level, so as preparation, bank plenty of Dratini Candy now. This is a long-term keeper that performs well even in Master League.
Cradily (Lileep Evolution)
Cradily shines in the Battle League rather than in gyms or raids. It has a high SCP and access to strong charged moves like Grass Knot and Rock Tomb, making it a reliable bulky pick for Super League and Hyper League.
Its pre-evolution, Lileep, is a rare fossil Pokémon you do not often come across. It shows up during events like this one, so if you play the leagues — or want to get into them — make sure to grab it while you can.
Shadow Dialga Shadow Raid (From 6/2 Tue — Debuts This Week)
Shadow Dialga runs from Tuesday 6/2 through Monday 8/4 — a long stretch that begins this week. Dialga is already strong, and the Shadow version pushes its damage output even higher.
With the Steel / Dragon typing it has excellent resistances, and as a Dragon-type that does not take Dragon damage as a weakness, it is easy to deploy against Dragon-type raid bosses — highly recommended. One thing to keep in mind:
Origin Dialga learns Roar of Time, so Dialga Candy tends to be prioritized there. Still, if you have already finished raising Origin Dialga, or you pull a high-IV one, Shadow Dialga is well worth raising as a battle piece too.
Reshiram 5★ Legendary Raid (6/3 Wed – 6/9 Tue)
From Wednesday 6/3 at 5:00 JST through Tuesday 6/9 at 20:00,
Reshiram takes the 5★ Legendary Raid slot. Raid Hour is 6/3 (Wed) 18:00–19:00 JST.
As you would expect from a Legendary, Reshiram has high stats and earns a top-tier rating in gyms and raids. Fire-type raid attackers are actually a bit thin on easy-to-use options, but Reshiram has Fire Fang as a very usable fast move, which makes it more comfortable to run than other Fire types. Fire Fang also clears Team GO Rocket grunts at a brisk pace, so on that front too it is a highly recommended Legendary.
Mega Audino Mega Raid (6/3 Wed – 6/9 Tue)
Mega Audino is a Normal / Fairy dual-type Mega Evolution. Its stats are unremarkable, and like last week's Tapu Fini and Mega Medicham, it is mainly a Candy-boost catch rather than a combat piece. Treat it as a Pokédex entry and a top-up for your Candy boosting.
This Week's & Next Week's Raid Pokémon
Here is a rundown of this week's and next week's raid Pokémon. That said, the ★1 / ★3 raid bosses had not been officially announced at the time this video and article were made, so only the confirmed entries are listed. The Shadow Raid lineup does not seem to rotate on a weekly basis, so next week's article should be able to cover it in more detail.
Some of these end on 6/2, but if we pick out the recommendations again, Larvitar and Electabuzz stand out for their strong evolutions. We look at those evolutions in the next sections.
Shadow Tyranitar (Shadow Larvitar Evolution)
Shadow Tyranitar is the best Dark-type attacker in the game. Its rival is Hydreigon, but Shadow Tyranitar has higher bulk and can use Brutal Swing without a Charged TM, so it is also cheaper to build. If you pull a Shadow Larvitar, this is a top-priority Pokémon to raise.
Electivire (Electabuzz Evolution)
Electivire is a very strong Electric type, with damage that holds up even against Legendaries like Zapdos and Raikou. You will often deploy it against Water-type raid bosses like Kyogre, so for beginners and veterans alike, having a few ready is a very powerful plan. Collect Electabuzz and raise it.
This Week's Priority Summary
Priority 3 (Highest)
These are the strong raid and training pieces you do not want to miss this week.
Priority 2 (Mid)
These help in the leagues, Max Battles, and as Electric-type counters.
Priority 1 (Low)
Handy Tools
Here is another look at the two site tools featured in this week's video.
The first is the Max Battle Tank Ranking (by Counter Type). For Max Battles, it shows at a glance — via a durability ranking — which Pokémon to place as a tank against which type of boss.
The second is the Rare Candy Recommendation Ranking. It visualizes, with bar charts and by use case (raids, gyms, Team GO Rocket, Max Battles, PvP, and more), which Pokémon to spend your Rare Candy on. The filtering options are extensive, so give it a try.
Both tools are free to use. We plan to keep expanding them, so a bookmark is appreciated.
Closing
This week opens on the final day of GO Fest 2026 Tokyo and brings strong new arrivals like the Legendary raid Reshiram and the Shadow Raid Shadow Dialga — a rewarding week for training.
Here is the recommended order to work through it:
| Priority | Action |
|---|---|
| Highest | Raise Shadow Dialga / Reshiram / Shadow Larvitar (→ Shadow Tyranitar) / Dratini (→ Dragonite) |
| Mid | Shadow Cresselia (until 6/2) / Max Monday Malamar / Lileep (→ Cradily) / Electabuzz (→ Electivire) |
| Low | Tapu Fini + Mega Medicham last call / Mega Audino Candy boost |
Mega Mewtwo has also been pre-announced for GO Fest 2026 Global in July (open to all trainers worldwide). If you are not attending in Tokyo, that is the window to prepare for next.
Thanks for reading — see you in the next post.
