Why 0.5-Second Fast Moves Matter
Every Fast Move trigger fills a chunk of the Max Meter. A Pokémon using a 0.5s Fast Move triggers twice as often as one using a 1.0s Fast Move, so the meter fills at roughly double speed. This compounds: faster Max Meter → more Max Move uses → more team-wide damage and shields.
Combine that with high HP and Defense (so the tank actually survives long enough to fill the meter), and you get the formula for a Max Battle tank. The Pokémon below all clear both bars: 0.5s Fast Move available + top-tier bulk.
How This Ranking Was Calculated
- 0.5-second Fast Move: Required. Pokémon without a 0.5s option are excluded regardless of bulk.

- Type matchups: Resistance to the boss type adds a multiplier; weaknesses subtract.

Blissey
Normal — Pound (0.5s) + the highest HP pool in the game. Blissey is the all-rounder tank that works against almost any boss except Fighting-types.

Zamazenta (Crowned Shield)
Metal Claw (0.5s) + Wall Charged Move grants a free shield at battle start. The premier “active tank” — soaks damage, charges meter, and contributes Steel-type DPS.
Gigantamax Snorlax
